Pet Stores or Pet Adoption?

Now,
both Pişi and I
are adopted cats,
brought into
the BTLO's house
when we were about
two years old,
so
we are rather partial to how animals should get homes.

But,
one wonders
if Austin has taken it too
far.

Let us know what you think --

we promise, we
won't be offended
if you
say the pet stores should have
equal rights.

We just have our own
special
bias:

It's Cold Where We Live . . . .

. . . . really cold!

Today it was 11 degree Fahrenheit.

Humans think
we are lucky,
spoiled,
pampered
cats,
and yeah,
I guess we are!
Our mom makes sure
we always have food and
warmth,
even when she's away
for a long time.

She's kind of wacky that way.

But we would love to go outside;
we stare out the windows
all day long and fantasize
about chasing birds and sniffing
in all those
beautiful places,
even in the snow.
We know how fun it is for animals that go
outside,
but please,
remember:
cats and dogs
can't take the cold!

Take care of our sisters, brothers
and neighbors
who are
takin' it to the streets:

Portraits of Pişi

Well,
the
BigTwoLeggedOne (BTLO)
was cleaning some stuff out,
and she came upon
a book full
of pastels
she'd done
a few years ago.

It appears
that I,
the indubitable,
insistent
Pişi
was the subject
of some of her
contemplations.

I like them:

O.K., there are Cat Ladies, and then there's . . .

. . . this:

This Australian guy
married
his dog.

Seriously.

Now, if you ask me,
that's just the craziest thing
I've ever heard.

I mean, honestly,
folks might call
the BTLO
a "cat lady,"
but she'd never try
to marry a cat.

I mean, really:
she knows any self-respecting cat
would  say "no."

How To Deal With A 3 Year Old, or: How I Spent My Thanksgiving

So there I was, minding
my own business,
enjoying this lovely
cushion
on this lovely
rocking chair,
when suddenly,
there he was:

The Three Year Old

You would think he
would want
to bother
ol'
Fluffy,

but noooo

Not only did he want
to be with me,

he also

wanted to
BE ME.

He walked around
announcing:
"I'm Pişi! I'm Pişi!"
and then
he'd meow
and hiss.

I tried
hissing
at him,
but that only made him
want to be me
even more.

I never once
saw him
bother ol'
Fluffy--
oh, I should say
Squeak

You know, I should tell you:
I actually have
another name for her.
Squeak,
that is.
The BTLO
is only vaguely aware that I,
Pişi, have renamed
Fluffy, and her other name
isn't Fluffy.
Though I do call her that sometimes.
But other times, I call her
Beyza.
It's a Turkish name.
It means:
very white.
You know, sometimes

she seems
so white to me,
she disappears.

Anyway,
ol' Beyza
had a grand old time over Thanksgiving,
and I had the delight
of entertaining
a Three Year Old
who thought he was me,
when he didn't think he was
a Tiger.

My solution:
sleep.
Just keep right on
sleeping.

Eventually,
he would go away. . . .

But we both got plenty
of turkey,
and we got all
of the giblets.
What else can you ask for?

The Cat Blogosphere!

shshshshshsh She's sleeping

OK,

we'll I just have to tell you

both yours truly and I

were just delighted yesterday when,

at a most opportune time,

when we were both kind of depressed

and feeling like no one loved us,

we went to check out our blog.

We're all

kind of frustrated that the Stats thing isn't working.

So, we all

go to the blogs,

to see if we can detect any new action,

and what do we see?

17 new cat blog buddies

saying hi!

on our blog!

Well. . . . we are purrrfectly

delighted!

We want to say hello!!!!

to all our new friends at

We are really thrilled to have all these new feline friends!

And to be part of a community of cat lovin' humans, too

It could take us a little while

before we figure out how to work being in that community,

but we're eager to find out how!

But Thanksgiving's coming up,

and BTLO is really busy these days.

Still, we're around!

Tomorrow, we're headed towards

Kitty Nirvana.

I'll send pictures as soon as we get there,

but the rumor is:

there will be a three-year-old there!

What?

Yeah, one of the topics she and I both

agree on

is the one of three-year-old humans.

We try to avoid the kid

at first,

because he's almost four.

Which means he actually isn't

so afraid any more.

Now, when it comes to scaring away

three-year-olds,

Pişi

has the far better M.O.

Me, I'm just fluffy and pretty

and everyone

wants to pet me,

especially the three-year-old,

who has a stuffed cat that looks

just like me.

Wish me luck

Oh, and

Have a really great Thanksgiving!

Chicken Soup Kind of Day

Well, let us tell ya'

it's been a chicken soup kind of day.

And if we can wake up for it,
we might get to lick the bowl.

but it's been such a nice day to just sleep.

Maybe we both caught a bit of the illness
that the BTLO has had.
Yeah, she's been sick,
which is actually great
for the two of us,
because that means she's been at home!
And when she's home,
we both get equal time,
and we don't fight hardly at all,
and we get brushed,
and lots of treats
and lap time.

It's been pretty tough for her lately;
she's been working a lot,
and doesn't have much time
for blogging,
which is what she'd rather be doing.
We know that.
We know she's just
the happiest human
when she can sit home and write.

But,
as she says,
she has to pay for all that fancy
cat food
she gets us.

She does get some pretty good cat food for us, too.

But we've had a few really happy,
homey
days,
while the BTLO
has been sick as. . .
(why do people always say
"sick as a dog?")
. . . a human.

And we've been getting to eat
the leftover chicken soup,
and sleep
and meditate.

long cat. . . .

Well, it's been awhile.
No excuses;
we could blame it on
the Big Two Legged One,
but honestly,
we've just been sleeping a lot.

Pişi sleeps a bit more than I do.
She is getting older.
Sometimes I walk up to her
and sniff her,
just to make sure she's still
breathing.

I'm telling you, when she's asleep, she's really out of it,
and it can be hard to tell.

I was just going to walk over
and take a picture of her
on her multitude of beds,
and wouldn't you know it,
she woke up:

We have these beds all over the house.
BTLO bought two for me,
but the minute she brings one home,
ol' stinky up there moves in on it,
fills it with her scent,
and then I really don't want to sleep in it.

I just flop down where ever I can.

. . . and then there's the matter of my size.
Two of our other human friends,
Joanne & Erin,
say I'm not fat, I'm "poofy,"
and I really prefer that interpretation
of my expanding girth,
but you've all seen me when I'm shaved:
I'm not that fat.

Really.

But I am big.
Bigger than the average female cat.
After I moved in with
BTLO,
when I was two,
I kept growing,
so now I take up a fair amount of room
on a couch or a bed, or even a floor.

Mom -- woops, I mean the BTLO --
has just about decided
I'm pure Maine Coon,
an assessment I'll go along with.
At the very least,
I have royal blood.

So this only means I was all the more interested
when I learned of this boy-cat
named Stewie,
the longest cat in the world,
a Maine Coon who measures in
at 4 feet long.
Here he is
and a story about him:

Now, I don't know about you, but I think
he's one hot boy cat.

I love his face.

I'm putting pictures of him
inside my travel case,
where I do sleep sometimes,
because no one bothers me there.

No one.

Not even the BTLO, because
she thinks I'm afraid of the travel case,
when actually
I've come to like it,
because most of the time,
when I get shoved into it,
I come out again in one of two
of my favorite places --
my groomer (I love getting groomed!)
or the BTLO's mom's house, aka: Kitty Nirvana.

So I go to sleep in it,
hoping when I wake up,
I'll be in one of those places.

But for now, I think I'll crash
on the couch.

See ya later,

love,
Squeak

Send Roses Next Time

So,
she actually thought
this crummy vase full of flowers
would subdue me,
after weeks of being silenced
by
all
The Big Two Legged One's
schenangigans,
she tries to make up for it
with these flowers?

Well,
what would
YOU
say to that?

Luckily, I currently have control
of the keyboard
and I'm trying very hard
to be witty.

But things in our part of the world
have getting kind of chilly
and lazy,
and much of the time
the best thing to do
is sleep.

But every now and then,
like the other night,
something exciting rolls in.
We had one
heck of a storm;
the BTLO
was outside,
in the wind
trying to light a fire
(a quest I was wholly in support
of
given that she had this gorgeous piece
of kuzu,
lamb,
my favorite meat,
and she was planning to slap it on
those hot charcoals,

but instead --
change of plan:
the wind picked up,
the sky went dark,
and
everything started flying:
charcoal,
chair,
BTLO's beer.

We ended up eating
salmon, baked
but that wasn't so bad.

And yes,
if you're wondering
about our friend Fluffy,
she's still here, still
thinking that Sunshine Award we received
was just for her.

I just realized something:
I haven't said
a darned thing
that was witty.

Just being a kitty,
catching up
with her peeps
and distant
cat relatives.

Oh, look at this beautiful sky:

This was taken from our
second floor
balcony,
terrace
observation point --
she calls it a
porch;
I call it my
lookout point.

Kinda pretty, huh?

A Sunshine Award!

Holy Cats!

Someone has honored us!

We received a Sunshine Award

from our friend

Debra (She Who Seeks)

and we are

very, very flattered!

And it worked!

It brightened up

an otherwise

rather gloomy hum-drum stuck-inside-the-house cat day.

We will definitely pass
on the sunshine--

This weekend.

We Promise!

In the meantime,

Thank You!

Have a Happy Day!

Uh, oh, send messages to convince her. . .

. . . .  not to get one of these:

Our Big Two Legged One occasionally
gets really fascinated with
Serval Cats.

We'll both leave home if she gets one. . . .

demanding equal time

You know,
there's a certain point in every cat's life
when she has to really
take a stand,
demand attention,
and
. . . .
insist that she get blog time.

you know,
the Big Two Legged One is just so obsessed
with that
other blog.

And it's very difficult when you're a cat,
and your paws are too big
to type.

I mean, honestly,
it's not like I have much to say,
but this blog
has been silent
way too long

What's my explanation?
Well, the Big Two Legged One,
when not working on
the Other Blog,
has been working like a dog--
seriously:
she comes home every night
and works more,
and
the Stinky Deaf One
and I
fight
for lap time.

It's very hard for me, you know,
since I can hear,
and
I would like a little
TLC myself.

But the ugly fact is:

The BTLO
got so used to being with
a cat with broken ears
that she sits around making
no sound at all.

And my illustrious,
exotic
roommate

-- yeah, that one --

gets the run of everything.

Since she's deaf,
well,
there doesn't need to be
any sound.

I have to honestly tell you:
I sometimes wonder
what she actually hears in her head.

I mean, seriously,
she just sits for hours,
she can even sleep when
the vacuum cleaner is on right next to her.

Does she hear nothing at all?

Or maybe she hears some old sounds
from when she was a kitten,
sounds like I've never heard
before, because
I've never been to Turkey.

In fact,
my most recent
greatest adventure
was stalking
a salad

Oh, well,
it had no cheese in it.

You get what you can take,
right?

I'll take this nice bed!

defacing Cats.

. . . what we would really like to know

is

why do people love

to overdub

the Cats characters

with different songs?

We posted one a while back that we liked a lot,

but, now,

isn't this getting a little crazy?

Yeah, some people
just have
too much time
on their hands!
