Cows are sacred in India, and so are cats

Our Big Two Legged One discovered this information
and thought she'd share it --

She has found, in her travels in India,
that cows are truly allowed free reign in this culture.
Here's one she found
having a zen moment
on top of a rather large pile
of what appears to be garbage:

She was wondering if their were any
mystical magical attributes
that were assigned to cats,
and upon searching, she found out
about the mythological figure of Sasti,
who is the goddess of married woman:

She is " the giver of children, assists at childbirth, and is the guardian of young children. She is represented as a golden-complexioned woman with a child in her arms, riding upon a cat; hence no Hindu woman would under any circumstances injure that animal, lest she should offend the goddess and be made to suffer for it."  (found on sacredtexts.com )

Of course, there are other cats in India
that you wouldn't want to mess with either --

Right now, the BTLO knows one thing for sure,
she can't wait to come home and give us some respect,
because she knows we're missing her a lot!

Temple Cat

Well,
as I hang out here,
on my comfy bed,
which I just happen to let The Big Two Legged One
sleep in when she's here, I happen to know
that she's not here
because
she's in India.

India!

So for the next few weeks,
if she will deign to do it for us,
our Big Two Legged One
will offer you pictures of stuff
she sees in India.

Like this temple cat,
that she spotted on a visit to a Jain Temple in Mumbai:

I just hope she doesn't decide
to bring one of these home with her
as a souvenir. . .

Aren't I
temple cat enough?
