The Story of Squeak and the MacBook Pro

I really don't know what the big deal is

. . . so the BTLO

went out and bought this new machine.

It's a nice machine;

as you can see,

I can see myself in its screen.

But it's just a machine.

Well, then she proceeded

to do very strange things.

One day, she got me very excited --

the machine was making these wonderful singing noises,

and so was she --

she was sitting there in the middle of the room,

her legs crossed,

her eyes closed,

and the machine was singing.

I really had to check it out.

So I jumped up to the table

on which the singing machine sat,

and everything tumbled!

It's not my fault

that the table was unsteady,

not my fault either,

that the BTLO 

had left a glass of water right there.

The machine,

the table,

the water,

all went flying.

And the machine stopped singing.

I ran and hid in a corner.

And our dear BTLO

freaked out,

a little.

Now,

I'll let the BTLO 

tell the rest of the story:

So,

I took the less than two month old

MacBook Pro

to a Genius

at the Apple store,

and penitently explained that it had had a run in

with a cat

and a glass of water.
Cats and water, of course,
are not included on the warranty.

And the Genius looked at my receipt

and didn't even turn on the machine.

"I appreciate your honesty," 

he said.

"How much do you have saved on it?"

"Not much,"

I replied.

And he turned and called to the woman standing behind him:

"bring me a new MacBook Pro."

And she did,

and the soggy computer was whisked away

and replaced 

with a brand-spanking new one.

Ah, the miracles of owning a Mac.

And of being honest.

I still don't know

what the big deal is!

thank goodness for air conditioning!

Hi Folks,

Pişi here.

And I'm happy to report

that our 

Big Two Legged One

decided to turn on the air conditioning

and keep it on.

Still, 

it's kind of been pretty lazy

these past few days

Usually, I like to play

with the balls and the toy mice,

but right now,

I'm just lying around.

You can pet me if you'd like.

Beware, though,

I do have a

changeable personality.

Yeah, tell me about it.

(and hi from Squeak, too!

We hope you all have a cool place to be

in this heat!)

It's so hot in our neck of the woods

(just like everywhere!)

And our BTLO insists

on hanging out upstairs--

why?

The A.C. doesn't seem to be working upstairs.

So I sit by the steps

where there's an open window and where

I can feel a little of the A.C.

from downstairs.

Just call me Guard Cat

or

Squeak the Sphinx

Who says fat is a flaw?

At our recent holiday 

with the BTLO's family,

Squeak was reprimanded more than once for being,

well,

fat.

To this, Squeak admonished:

"I'm not fat, I'm pooffy!"

But today, with thanks to our blogger friend

Arbroath,

we found evidence that being a fat cat can be a benefit.

According to the Huffington Post,

there are only 4500 - 7500 of these elusive

big cats in existence, 

in Central Asia.

They are considered to be

the most elusive big cats

on the planet.

Recently, cameras were able to catch

photos of them in the

Wakhan Corridor of Afghanistan.

They are truly beautiful creatures!

But they are threatened by people

in China who feel their

bones and other bodily parts

will enhance sexual prowess!

May they continue to thrive

in the land for which

they are named.

Hi,

The BTLO often takes us along

when she goes to visit her mother.

And it's really not that bad of a place!
